Walk & Roll for Hope (Middle School Youth)

Walk & Roll for Hope

Season of Hope: Walk & Roll for Hope and Mission Festival
A fundraising ministry to raise
over $30,000 for our two missions, Light of Hope in Kenya and Wings of Hope in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, from April 28th to May 19th.

What is Walk & Roll for Hope?

WCC’s Middle School youth invite you to join them on Sunday, April 28th for a fundraising “walk & roll” to benefit Light of Hope Home & School in Naivasha, Kenya, and the Wings of Hope School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Last year, over 150 people participated in the Walk for Hope, raising funds to help build a kitchen facility at Light of Hope. This year, we hope to have 200 people participating!

Our goal is to help build basic, essential facilities at both schools— restrooms and clothes-washing facilities, simple investments in health, at Light of Hope, and rebuilding the school that was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake at Wings of Hope.

The Walk & Roll has 3 start times (10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.) beginning from WCC’s west parking lot. The Long Loop consists of a 5-mile trek, utilizing the Luce Line and Dakota Trail systems in Wayzata. The Short Loop consists of a 1-mile trek, utilizing the Luce Line Trail (suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, and young families). Everyone is welcome to walk & roll!

Lunch will be available for purchase the day of the event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and free snacks will be available.

About Light of Hope and Wings of Hope

Light of Hope (LOH) is a home and school for over 75 young, orphaned girls in Naivasha, Kenya.
LOH seeks to make a difference, one life at a time, by providing refuge, restoration, and redirection for the girls. Light of Hope has been a mission partner of Wayzata Community Church since 2007.

Wings of Hope has been a critical part of the the St. Joseph’s Family in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, providing a safe, happy, loving, caring, and hopeful family environment for children and young adults with physical and mental challenges, including autism, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, and developmental delays. Today, Wings of Hope provides a home and second chance for 32 residents who would otherwise be shunned by Haitian society. Wings of Hope is a mission partner of WCC.
