New FM Group
Men of the West (Orono, Maple Plain, Mound, Long Lake, Wayzata), are you interested in joining a small group of men for a Friday breakfast chat and faith check-in? A new FM group will be forming soon. If you’d like to hear more contact Allen Hilton.
Here are comments from Tom Regnier who is a member of Group #7 that meets at the Wayzata American Legion on Friday mornings. If you’re interested in being involved in a small group, or for more information, call Kathleen at 952-473-8877, ext. 212 or send an email to kpatterson@wayzatacommunitychurch.org.“I was curious as to how the group would get along. After all, there were 8 or 9 ‘old guys’ who had kind of seen each other in church on Sundays, but were really strangers. And what about the topic? Could we really spend over an hour re-hashing JR’s sermons on Ecclesiastes? Instead of worrying about all these things, I decided to go with the flow and see what would happen. After several weeks, here is what I’ve learned:
- The ‘old guys’ have young minds and are very interesting to talk to. (I’ve also concluded that I’m an “old guy” too.)
- It’s great to meet new people who have some common interests.
- We face many of the same problems and issues in our lives.
- Even casual conversations bring empathy and learning.
- I can step back and let the group gel without having to drive, participate, lead, follow, or get in the way.
- Breakfast at the Wayzata American Legion is good, cheap, and fast. (I didn’t think you could ever get more than two of the three at one time!)
