Bette Johnson, PhD, LP
After having taught school, raised a family, and served as a volunteer with “various hats” in our church, Bette Johnson returned to academia and earned a doctorate in psychology at the University of Minnesota in 1987. She has taught adolescent development at both the University of Minnesota and at the University of St. Thomas, and has served as a consulting psychologist at the University Hospital Adolescent Health Program, at the Blake Schools, and at Breck Lower School. She worked at the counseling centers of both Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church and Colonial Church of Edina. She has worked extensively with families in the process of divorce to provide divorce-closure therapy for the parents and educational support for their children.

Bette enjoys working with people of all ages, including individuals, couples, and families. She focuses on the goals of her clients as they cope with issues like anxiety, mood disorders, grief, trauma, parenting and marital problems, and chronic mental illness. She is a Licensed Psychologist (LP) in private practice with offices at WCC and in Loring Park in Minneapolis. Bette and her colleague, Celeste Scott, co-lead an ongoing psychotherapy group for men and women that focuses on relationship skills. They are accepting new members at this time.
