Pastoral counseling is a subset of pastoral care. Pastoral care is the ongoing work of the whole congregation in caring for one another, of finding God on all of life’s journeys.
Pastoral counseling is a focused form of pastoral care between a member or members of the congregation and their pastor. It is time limited and oriented to discerning and empowering people to make choices or changes to improve the quality of their life and/or relationships. It is generally in response to a particular life problem. When necessary, pastoral counseling can result in a referral to an appropriate resource. This form of pastoral care is always negotiated and treated with the strictest of confidentiality.
Appointments can be made directly with individual pastoral staff.
