“What are Humans, That You Regard Them?” (October 30-November 20)
Co-taught: Dr. Ron Troxel & Rev. Rustin Comer, Wednesdays at 10 a.m. & 6:30 p.m. in the Colonnade
In the previous course, Ron and Rustin explored who is God. In this course, they will discern who are we as humans in relation to God. “What are Humans, That You Regard Them?” This question comes from Psalm 8:4 and 144:3. Within the biblical narrative, we see a multitude of answers to this question, many of which seem to compete with one another.
Genesis 1:26 says, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” Did that experiment go awry, proving God too optimistic? If so, then what are humans “that you care for them?” Do evolution and our altered understandings of who we are, move us further away from God’s image or towards it? Join Rustin and Ron and explore the question “What are we as humans?”
