Adult Faith Formation – Advent

Advent Study: The Weary World Rejoices
Wednesdays, December 2, 9 and 16 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom
Led by Rev. Danielle Jones
There is a line in the classic hymn “O Holy Night” that reads “A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices”. Take a break from the busyness of the season to spend a little time tending to your weariness and looking for the “thrill of hope” that the Christmas season holds. Together we will look at scripture, the themes of Love, Joy, Peace and Hope, and we will listen to what God is saying to us in this very unique season of Advent 2020.

Soultenders: Centering Prayer During Advent
December 1, 8, 15 & 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Zoom
Experience the waiting of Advent with Centering Prayer, a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive and experience the gift of God’s presence within us. Centering Prayer adds depth of meaning to all prayer and facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer — verbal, mental or affective prayer — into a receptive prayer of resting in God.

All are welcome to join Dana Essex, WCC Caring Community Minister, to learn and practice Centering Prayer on Tuesdays, December 1, 8, 15, and 22, 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Zoom. There is a $10 fee for introductory materials. Questions? Contact Dana at DanaEssex@comcast.net or 612-716-8357.
