Surviving in the Suburbs: Growing Up Black in a Majority White Community is a video curriculum and conversation series produced by TreeHouse, a local non-profit focused on ending hopelessness among teens.
Members of WCC’s Community Engagement Group will be facilitating this experience that highlights the lives of four local young adult Black men and women who share their stories of family, community, housing, money and school from their lives in the suburbs. For a brief sample, click this link.
Each session will be held in person in the Chapel, and virtually on Zoom. We will watch one video and break into small groups for reactions and discussion. Small groups will be led by members of WCC who have been through this curriculum and who will engage groups in learning and understanding.
We hope you will join us! Contact Anne Johnson at ajjohn5@msn.com for more information.
