This Spring, WCC will send student leaders to Tecate Mexico with the mission of building houses alongside Mexican families living in poverty. We partner with Amor Ministries.
When Amor Ministries began in 1980, many of the poorest families were sending their children away to orphanages because they could not provide for them. Orphanages were filling up with children whose parents loved them, but lacked the resources to take care of their general needs. After encountering this reality, Amor’s Founders decided to offer an alternative. For the last thirty-eight years, Amor Ministries’ main purpose was and continues to be to provide adequate housing to keep families together. In addition to helping make life easier by providing a home, we share the grace and love of Jesus by providing security, safety, and stability to families who would otherwise be without.
Our students will be supported by parents and adult leaders. This trip offers a unique environment for spiritual growth and a time to reflect on our role in this world. Each participant will witness what it is like to live in a developing country and have the opportunity to be a servant to others.
* Additional fundraisers and scholarships upon request.

John Ross, Trip Leader
John has led 8 previous Amor Mission Trips with students in both his previous setting in Ohio, and from here in Wayzata the first two trips we took in 2005 and 2006. John, Senior Minister at WCC, will work with a large group of adult volunteers in planning and executing a trip centered on the goals of safety, learning, fun, and spiritual growth. John says, “We go to serve in Mexico because the need is real— the need in Mexico and the need in Wayzata.”
Chris Paulson, Program Leader
Chris is no stranger to ministry that happens in God’s “great outdoors”! As WCC’s Director of Camp Ministries, Chris is gifted in music, message, and fun. He will stitch together a powerful connection between the hard work done every day to build a house for a homeless family with the life-changing lessons that await every student and adult who make the journey to Tecate.
