It was a brisk morning in Tecate waking up to the sound of song birds in the trees surrounding the camp site. The day started out with a delicious breakfast while having conversations with new and old friends. The devotion this morning set the tone for the rest of the trip, around the theme of building. The devotion highlighted building character and how we want to build our character through this trip. We continued thinking about our devotion question from last night which was “why did we come on this trip?” We will continue to think about and explore this question throughout this journey.
Both work groups today got ahead of schedule and set the foundation of the house, while making sure to apply lots of sunscreen and drink water!! A highlight of work time was the animals on site. There were three dogs, four chickens, and two ducks, who all had names by the end of the day. the fist work day was already amazing. I can’t wait to spend more time with these amazing people in this incredible place, doing amazing work.
