You’ve got Mail! REAL MAIL!

Last week we sent out a letter to all parents/guardians in Middle School Ministry at Wayzata Community Church. Hopefully, it landed in your mailbox (YES REAL MAIL THAT IS NOT A BILL!!) this last weekend! Please open it and enjoy the letter, special events sheet, your Middle Schooler’s Leader Bio AND Contact Info for your Middle Schooler’s Leader! If you have more then one child in Middle School Ministry, you will get more then one letter with DIFFERENT INFO IN THEM (unless you have same gender twins)!

This year, we are trying to work on our Middle School Leaders not only having a relationship with your Middle Schooler but with you as a parent/guardian as well! This is really important for us. You know a lot about your child and the different phases they’ve gone through. We know a lot about multiple children at one phase- Middle School. We hope to be a resource for one another!

If you didn’t receive mail… we probably don’t have your information or if you had a sticker on your envelope talking about registration, it means that as of Tuesday, your Middle Schooler wasn’t registered! Please make sure your child is registered! ALL children and youth will be checked in electronically this year when they come into the building to help make our ministries safer for all. When your Middle Schooler brings a friend, if they are not registered before arriving, we will have a separate station for them to register.

    Meet Brady!

Brady Ross is our new Middle School Assistant this year! Brady is 23 years old and is finishing up college. His interests include music, board games, movies, frisbee, and outdoor activities! His idols are people like MLK Jr, Samwise Gamgee & Andy Dwyer. He hopes to get to know every middle schooler this year! Brady played ultimate frisbee at Luther College for 2 teams. Brady has traveled the world with his family! He has been to Kenya, England, Switzerland, Italy, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Brady has been a part of the Summer Camp team now for 5 years being a Counselor, Work Crew Director & part of the Program Team. Needlesstosay, Brady knows how to have a lot of fun with we are excited to have him this year!  Learn more about Brady by reading his bio outside the Middle School Corner!

PS Don’t worry, we still love our Nate, our Middle School Assistant for the last two years, he’s just headed back to college. He is enjoying his last year of being a High School leader with the senior class so you will still see him around WCC! (He also likes to pop in to the Middle School Corner to say hi!)

    Stepping Stones is now Milestones!

In case you were confused… last year we changed what was once know as Stepping Stones is now called MILESTONES! This last Wednesday, our 7th graders and their Parents/Guardians kicked off our 7th Grade Milestone- Learning to Thrive. If you couldn’t make it for the first session, join us for the next 2!

7th Grade Milestone- Learning to Thrive- Wednesday, September 26, October 10 & November 14 from 6:30-8pm

    • 7th graders, their parents, and our 7th grade leaders gather 3 times for this Milestone to discuss what it means to be in “adolescence” and all the changes happening, address how societal pressures and support structures are different from the way they were a generation ago and how parents and adolescents can begin charting this new territory together, work together to articulate our dream relationship with our parents and then take special steps to make that dream a reality. We will also talk about different faith practices to help us learn to communicate better and how to pray together. Our 7th graders and 7th grade leaders start at Crossroads for the first part of this milestone while our 7th grade parents/guardians enjoy some conversations lead by the book Parenting your 7th Grader. Then our 7th graders and leaders join us for the last half of our time together.

NEW THIS YEAR! Join us for dinner first with other 7th grade families and your 7th Graders Leaders from 5:15-6:30pm in Mithun Hall at WCC!

MS PARENTS! THIS ONE IS FOR YOU!

Meet & Eat: A fun event for our Middle School Parents & Leaders

Middle School Parents are the number one faith provider in Middle Schoolers lives and we love helping you to do that! Our Middle School Leaders play an important role in the lives of our Middle Schoolers during these constantly changing years. Middle School Parents are invited to join us for this incredible opportunity for conversations with other Middle School parents about what it means to be parenting this beautiful ever-changing age. Get to know other parents at WCC and meet your Middle Schooler’s Leaders, but more importantly for our Middle School Team to meet YOU (and enjoy some yummy food while doing so!)

I LOVE SEEING WHAT MIDDLE SCHOOLERS ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT OUTSIDE OF WCC but getting their event schedule is pretty challenging sometimes! I need your help, please let me know about your middle schooler’s events (THINK PLAYS, GAMES, MUSICAL PERFORMANCES, SHOWS, SCHOLAR COMPETITIONS, ETC!)

Here’s how you can let me know about upcoming dates:

      • Put a note in the Where’s CBW Mailbox in the Middle School Corner at WCC  OR
      • Fill out this quick 5 questions request to let me know when and where to go.

Thanks for letting me know!  I try my best to make it to their events when I know about them.
