Wayzata Community Church is pleased to announce that Rev. Dan Stark has agreed to become our next Associate Clergy. Rev. Stark is a UCC minister who is currently the Senior Minister of Christ Church UCC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is also a Chaplain and Captain in the USAF Reserve.
Dan grew up in Wabasha, Minnesota, and received his undergraduate degree at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He then pursued a Masters Degree in Old Testament, as well as a Master of Theology, from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, and a Master of Divinity from Emory Candler School of Theology in Atlanta.
He has been selected as a multi-year participant in Marquette University’s Pastoral Leadership in a Cultural Context program, and also for UCC’s New Generation Leadership Initiative. While at Christ Church, Rev. Stark has worked extensively in community-based outreach programs, as well as interfaith initiatives.
Rev. Stark accepted the Council’s invitation following the Associate Clergy Search committee’s four month search process. He and Rev. Danielle Jones first became acquainted when she and this year’s middle school mission group stayed at his church in June. He then visited WCC and preached on August 29 (“God, Take the Potter’s Wheel”).
Dan brings great intentionality to everything he does. He enjoys teaching, preaching, pastoral care, and working across differences to build relationships in the community. We look forward to the ways he will share his gifts with our congregation and how he will lead us into new ways of “inspiring the world with the inclusive love of Jesus”.
Dan, his wife Sonia, and their children Charlotte (8) and Elliott (3) are excited to join Wayzata Community Church in December, following the transition of Dan’s pastoral responsibilities at Christ Church.
We are so grateful for Dan and his family and look forward to welcoming him back to Minnesota in a few months!
We give thanks for the incredible work of our Associate Clergy Search Committee.
Associate Clergy Search Committee
Reid Shaw, Chair
Also supporting the Search Committee were Rev. Danielle Jones, Dolores Urban, and Michael Coty.
