Give Mission for Christmas
The gift of a Scholarship for a Student at Emprendedora School in Nicaragua
Looking for that perfect gift for someone special? Why not give mission for Christmas? Wayzata Community Church and Opportunity International have a three-year partnership with Emprendedora School in Nicaragua. Emprendedora School provides high-quality education and hands-on training to 300 rural youth. Upon graduation, students earn both a high school diploma and a technical degree, which leads to better employment opportunities. COVID has had the same effects on education in Nicaragua that we face in the US, but families have fewer resources to adjust to remote learning. Investing in education is one of the few decisive ways to loosen the grip of poverty. Your $50 gift can be the difference between a student staying in school through these challenging times and a student dropping out of school for good.
This Christmas, you can give a gift of $50 to support a scholarship for a student at Emprendedora School during the 2021 school year. As a thank you for your gift you will receive:
• A photograph of a student at Emprendedora School
• A gift card that explains the impact of your gift
• A beautiful handmade Christmas ornament that supports local woodworkers in Nicaragua
• All beautifully wrapped in a ready to give package.
Click here to Give Mission for Christmas. You will have an option to give an additional $5 to cover the cost of the gift wrap and offset the cost of the ornament. Danielle Jones will contact you when your gifts are ready for pick up at the church.
A Word About the Woodworkers
Your gift supports Emprendedora students and provides much needed work for Niacaraguan artisans. The ornaments are made by Francisco and Fidel Aleman, brothers who run a wood artisan business that has been in their family for 20 years. They have been working for several weeks to create these handcrafted ornaments for WCC.
Opportunity partners with over 1000 artisans in a program that provides lending, basic business skill development, access to markets and product development. Visit opportunity.org for more information.
