The Rummage Sale wouldn’t be possible without all of our valued volunteers. Every summer over 600+ people of all ages and backgrounds come to volunteer their time during the “Rummage Season.” You do not need to be a member of WCC; all are welcome to participate in a common mission, enjoying the social intergenerational benefits of community while sharing your time and talents.
The Rummage Sale Ministries is approved for all types of community service hours.
Volunteer to sort and price donations
Monday, June 8 through Monday, July 27
Volunteers receive, distribute, sort and price donations.
Everyone is invited to join our community ministry. Members/non-members, men, women, youth welcome. Earn pre-sale privileges. Come any day and for whatever time you are able to volunteer. Bring a friend. Students receive volunteer service credit.
The Sorting Schedule is:
9 a.m. – 12 noon Every M, T, W, Th, Sa
5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Every Tuesday
How can I be involved if I can not help do the sorting? Are there other opportunities?
Volunteer opportunities exist year round. If you or your group want to help we will find a time and a place for you. There are allergy free opportunities and many one time and short-term projects both during “The Rummage Season” (May-August ) and during the “Off Season”, (September – April ). For both individuals and organizations, times can be flexible, and include scheduled, unscheduled, “off” hour and one-time events. Many opportunities take three hours or less, such as Set up of departments, rooms, and supplies, helping with scheduled furniture pick-ups, or helping with our Food and Fellowship group.
The clean-up and final storage of all support materials, signs, equipment, supplies, etc. continue into the fall. There are opportunities to serve on The Rummage Sale Ministries Committee, and we have a number of groups working to prepare for the next SALE; publicity, recruiting, development of new ideas and strategies, just to name a few.
Contact The Rummage Sale Ministries Office and let us know where you would like to help.
Food and Fellowship Team
Help prepare, serve and clean-up of daily coffee breaks during sorting. Wrap-up dinner assistance and Sale Day in “Dick’s Grill.” Fellowship is one of the main cornerstones of Rummage.
Children and Youth
The Rummage Sale is an invaluable way to connect the intergenerational members of our community – it keeps the more mature young and helps the young be more mature! The Rummage Sale offers great program opportunities for children and youth of all ages. Registration is required. See our Children, Youth and Teen page for details.
Volunteer Just for Sale Week
This week is full of activity! Many, many more volunteers are needed for the entire week of The Sale, with both lightweight and heavy lifting jobs. A few jobs include: posting signs, raising tents on the weekend prior to The Sale, moving merchandise to tents, pricing, and on Sale Days, bagging and serving as a cashier.
Clean Up After The Sale
Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1
All remaining items are boxed or bagged and given to various Social Service Agencies. All equipment must be stored, tents taken down, broken and unusable items discarded and our building made ready for other ministry programing. No child care available.
