Friends and Families,
Welcome to the Summer Camp ministry of Wayzata Community Church. Summer Camp is a transformative “rite of passage” in the lives of so many children and teenagers. It is a time that uniquely gives students a chance to experience life in community, unplugged from technology, while experiencing the gifts of nature and the life of faith.
Believing that each student is unique, unrepeatable miracle of God, we seek to welcome kids to join us for Summer Camp. Through a relational style of ministry it is our goal to provide each student with a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. We world hard to help everyone at camp see what their next step of faith is and all are welcome to explore faith in a safe and respectful environment.
Our unique style and philosophy of outdoor ministry is build on 5 central goals:
• SAFETY — first and foremost, everyone at camp is kept physically, emotionally and spiritually safe. From this foundation grows all our other goals.
• FUN — the best way to show a student that they are loved is to help them have good, clean fun — and lots of it! Fun builds trust, breaks down barriers and creates shared memories. We bake fun into everything we do at camp.
• MESSAGE — this is the “why” of Summer Camp. We will share an honest and compelling picture of God’s love as we experience it through Jesus Christ. The Gospel should be the best news we ever hear — that we are loved and called to love others while we serve others too.
• AFFIRMATION — we love every student, just as they are. Period. There are very few places in the world where kids can be themselves without anyone asking them to perform (academically, athletically, musically, etc.). Campers will know that they are free to be themselves and that they are whole-heartedly loved with no strings attached.
• COMMUNITY — one outcome of accomplishing the first four goals is a profound experience of Community. Camp relationships far often live on long past the camp experience. We have another incredible summer planned for 2023. We will be back at the Chi Rho Center — and we will be ready for all God will do through Camp this summer.
