Winter Serving Opportunities

EDITH’S HOUSE

In December we collected items to make up hygiene kits and to provide snacks for Edith’s House Outreach Ministry. WCC member Jeff Johnson is leading an Outreach Team at Freedom House in St. Paul on the 3rd Thursday afternoon of each month. If you would like to join this team and help with handing out kits for Edith’s House, please contact Mark Bayley (mtbayley65@gmail.com) or Jeff Johnson (jjjohnson55@msn.com) for information.

EVERY MEAL SERVICE PROJECT
Every Friday at Fair Oaks Elementary School in Minneapolis
300,000 kids in Minnesota live in food insecurity. WCC recently began partnering with Every Meal, an organization that works to fight child hunger. WCC volunteers are needed to discreetly place a bag of food into children’s backpacks at Fair Oaks Elementary school each Friday. These bags of food provides meals for families on the weekends when kids don’t have access to school free lunch programs. If you are interested in volunteering for a Friday packing date, please contact Dean Johnson at deanromness@gmail.com.

MEALS ON WHEELS
Meal Delivery for the Month of January
Safely delivering meals is a simple and rewarding way to help seniors and people with disabilities in need of hot meals and a friendly visit, and you can do it over lunch! WCC coordinates delivery volunteers in the Plymouth/Wayzata area and provides drivers almost every day of January. Volunteers arrive at 10:15 a.m. to pick up the meals and each route has between 6-8 meals to deliver. All of this takes around two hours and we need four drivers per day! For more information or to volunteer, contact Bob Nash, rnash68049@aol.com.

THIMBLE BEES
January 11 & 25, February 8 & 22
9:00 a.m.-12 noon, Mithun Hall
Whether you are experienced at sewing, knitting, or crocheting or could help cut fabric, stuff toys, or tie quilts, etc., Thimble Bees has a place for you. Enjoy the fellowship of women who work to provide prayer shawls, baby layettes, warm hats and scarves, lap robes, chemo hats, and many more items for people in need. Thimble Bees meets from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon in Mithun Hall. Contact: Kathy Smith at ksmith3600@aol.com.

WELCOMING TEAM VOLUNTEERS
We are adding to our team and looking for welcoming ushers and greeters who are able to serve at our 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services. It would be ideal to have enough volunteers so that we could rotate teams week to week. If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact Jeff Johnson (jjjohnson55@msn.com) or send an email to welcome@wayzatacommunitychurch.org.
