Advent Worship

WORSHIPX:DWELT
Wednesday, December 18
6:30-8:00 p.m., Sanctuary

What does it mean for Jesus to move into our neighborhood this holiday season?  In what ways do we prepare our homes for all the fun, and festivities, for the hustle of families, and the onslaught of parties and meals?  Better yet, in this Advent season how are you making your life?  With every action, with every word, we make our lives for better or worse. But here’s the beauty of what Wayzata Community Church believes this Advent season; not only are we making our lives… but the Spirit of God is making her life with us. So let’s mark this season with an Advent Celebration. Let’s celebrate Jesus coming to town. Join us December 18th for this special Wednesday worship service.

BLUE CHRISTMAS
Thursday, December 19
12 noon and 7:00 p.m., Chapel

The celebrations of this Holy season have a way of shining light on our griefs, fears, and longings, so that we feel them more deeply.  We invite you into the simple warmth and beauty of this Advent Candlelight Worship at Wayzata Community Church. Through scripture, prayers, music and message, we offer you the gift of a time to reflect on the comfort and hope of this season – for you, for those you love, for the wider world. This special service will be led by our Pastoral Care ministers and Tapestry contemporary musicians.

LIGHT THE LABYRINTH
Saturday, December 21
5:00 p.m., Courtyard Labyrinth
Light the Labyrinth will awaken us to the light of Jesus entering our world. You will be encouraged to engage your shadows and your own light, and how you perceive each of them. This event will draw on the parallels to your own day-to-day life… the way in which the shadows of your life change during the course of the day, and how the atmosphere of a space changes depending entirely on how we share our light. Hosted on the winter solstice— also known as midwinter— we will prepare the way of the light breaking into our darkness. Join us as we sing, walk, and light the labyrinth at Wayzata Community Church.

ROCK THE MANGER: CHRISTMAS EVE EVE *
Monday, December 23
5:00 p.m., Sanctuary

If you are going to be out of town on Christmas Eve, or you are just ready to celebrate Jesus’ birth in a festive way a little early, join us in the Sanctuary for Rock the Manger! This very special time of worship will feature music by Charles Lazarus and Power Tap, along with an inspiring Christmas message, and will close with candle lighting and singing of Silent Night. All are welcome. *Childcare available for Birth-PreK.

ONE WORD SUNDAY: LIGHT IT UP
with Special Guest Charles Lazarus
Sunday, December 29
8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO CHANGE. Personal change is on our minds at this time of year. The way we tend to handle our desire for change is by making resolutions—sweeping promises never to do what we’ve always done. Sweeping promises do not work! New Years Resolutions are really just Last Year’s Confessions. It is expected that 90 million Americans make New Years Resolutions. 75% of people abandon those resolutions by February.  A favorite childhood hymn says, “It only takes a spark to get a fire going. And soon all those around can warm up to its glowing….” On One Word Sunday, let’s pick the word to spark our change. One Word is a special-needs friendly service.
