Pastoral Care Team and Caring Community Ministers

In 2025, 30 Caring Community Ministers (CCMs) joined our clergy team to provide compassionate support to the Wayzata Community Church congregation by doing calls/notes/cards, home visits, and serving in the prayer room. They also work on the funeral ministry team. Each CCM received over 30 hours of training and is equipped to offer a listening ear and spiritual guidance.

We encourage you to contact us in matters such as:

• Hospitalization of a member or close family member

• Upcoming surgery or therapeutic engagement

• Death of a family member

• Extended illness of self or family member

• Personal or family emergency or crisis

• Need for referral to a counselor or support group

• Requests to be included on the Prayer Chain

For a visit or phone call, please call 952-473-8877 or email Rev. Dan Stark at dstark@wayzatacommunitychurch.org.

Emergency Contact Number

One of our ministers is on call 24 hours a day for emergencies.  If you encounter a life-threatening emergency, call 911 first.

For pastoral emergencies, call Wayzata Community Church at 952-473-8877, ext. 245. When prompted, dial 245 to reach the on-call minister.

Our Pastoral Team is committed to supporting the needs of our church community at all times.

Deacons

The Board of Deacons partners with clergy to provide meaningful worship experiences throughout the year. They assist with the sacraments, including communion and baptisms, and support the spiritual life of our congregation. Deacons also bring the spirit of worship to hospitalized and homebound members by delivering flowers and bulletins.

We also offer Pastoral Care by meeting basic needs in our congregation and community through the Deacons Fund.

The Deacon's Fund helps community members facing unforeseen, short-term financial emergencies. Requests are confidentially reviewed by clergy and Deacon leadership. To request assistance, contact a clergy member. To help replenish the fund, donate by check (memo: Deacon Fund) or by using the link below. Your support aids those in need within our community.

Prayer Chain

Need prayer? We would be honored to pray for you. To submit a prayer request, send us a message or use a Hello Card on Sunday. Unless you mark your request confidential, it will be shared with our Prayer Chain.

Send us a Message

If praying for others is a call on your heart, we invite you to become a prayer partner with members of our community.

As a Prayer Chain member, you’ll receive a weekly email from Wayzata Community Church listing current prayer needs submitted by the community. Members pray for those listed for 30 days unless requests are marked confidential; prayers can be renewed or updated at your request.

You’re welcome to submit your own prayer request at any time. Requests shared on Hello Cards or by message will be included on our Prayer Chain for 30 days, unless marked confidential. You may renew or update your prayer request at the end of this period. We are honored to serve you.

Peace Labyrinth

Our Peace Labyrinth in the Ruth Bovey Stevens Garden is open to all for walking, prayer, and meditation.

Walking the labyrinth can bring us closer to God. The journey—whether walking or wandering—reminds us that God is with us in every season, through need and gratitude alike.

The labyrinth is a work of art and a sacred space—a place to connect with our true selves and with God, who seeks to know and love us more deeply.

You’re invited to walk the Peace Labyrinth any time the church is open, and the courtyard is accessible.

Wind Phone

A team of WCC members is building a “Wind Phone” at Wayzata Community Church. On All Saints Day 2024, Lindy Purdy shared the story of the original Wind Phone in Japan—a symbolic phone that carries messages on the wind, not through wires. (Click here to listen to Lindy’s sermon.)

The Wind Phone will be an inviting, contemplative space for our congregation and community. In its peaceful outdoor setting, it offers a gentle way to release unspoken words, grieve, remember, and heal. We welcome your prayers and support for this project, which began in May 2025. For more information, contact Lindy McClure at jlmcclure@gmail.com. Watch for updates soon.

In this episode of This American Life, producer Miki Meek tells the story of a phone booth in Japan that attracts thousands of people who lost loved ones in the 2011 tsunami and earthquake. A Japanese TV crew from NHK Sendai filmed people inside a phone booth whose phone was not connected to anything.
